At My Sistah's House, we are committed to providing safe and supportive housing solutions for individuals in Memphis, particularly focusing on the needs of the local TLGBQIA+ community.
Our housing program is intentionally designed to empower residents as they navigate their journey toward stability and independence.
On this page, you'll find information about the types of housing we offer, how you can apply, and what standards we hold residents to in order to create a safe and welcoming community for all.
While residents are expected to live independently, My Sistah's House provides resources and referrals for case management and other support services tailored to the unique needs of our community members.
We believe in building a strong community based on solidarity and a shared pursuit of liberation.
Residents are encouraged to participate in events and activities that foster connections among neighbors, creating a network of support and empowerment.
Transitional units offer temporary housing for residents who are in the process of stabilizing their lives and might not be ready to live independently yet.
We prioritize serving those who may have faced systemic barriers when seeking housing in the past, and are looking for a supportive environment to thrive and grow before moving into permanent and independent housing.
Permanent units provide long-term housing solutions for residents who are ready for independent living and have demonstrated the ability to maintain a home, whether through MSH's Transitional housing or elsewhere in the community.
We aim to create a welcoming space for those who have historically been underserved.
Interested potential residents can apply online easily through our website. Applications are open to everyone, and are not restricted by cost or application fees.
We ask applicants to provide basic personal information, housing history, emergency contacts, and details about their support needs. This information is essential to identifying the right housing option for you.
If you have any questions or concerns about the application, or would like to request assistance in filling it out, please email info@mshmemphis.org.
Selected applicants may be asked to participate in a group interview with current residents and staff to assess fit and readiness for independent living.
